Great

| This kettle has been great. I got it for a bit less than advertised here, but what a deal. I had no problems with a "plastic" taste. I followed the instructions of boiling up two kettles of water and dumping them out before personal use. I used it for making tea at a high tea and several people asked where I got it. I use this kettle almost every day. I have only had it a few weeks and, so far, I am very pleased. |
The best kitchen gadget ever!

This is the best kitchen gadget ever (well, maybe my new fridge is as cool as that, but it costs 20 times more, so it does not count).
My god, this thing is awesome!
It actually changes the color as it heats! Yes, I know that product description says that, but reading about it is one thing; actually seeing is another. This is just sick.
It has a built-in digital thermometer!
Now when I am desperately waiting for the kettle to heat up, not only I can see the whole thing lit up and change the color like a Christmas tree, I can also watch the thermometer counting the degrees.
The best kettle a geek can have.
Oh BTW, the tea tastes fine, it heats up pretty fast, etc, etc.
PS: Too bad it does not have a wi-fi module with SNMP on it; but next model surely will. |
Finally!

| For tea lovers -- finally, someone has made the ultimate tea kettle! I am not a review writer but am so pleased with this product I just had to write. How cool is this thing, 1 button to boil or, if you're like me, making tea and do not wish to boil your tea, you can choose from either low, med, or max 'WARM" setting, respectivelly, 100, 150 and 200 degree settings. The 'warming; feature sustains that setting for a full 2 hours too! comes with a spout filter for when you pour and again, if you're like me, making tea from loose leaves, the filter catches absolutely everything when you pour for nice clean cup o tea. Filter very easily pulls out for easy cleaning. Yes, half the carafe is a plastic of some sort but it tastes fine and works wonderfully. The carafe also changes color to let you know what temp it's going from AND there is a digital temp counter that tells you, at any point EXACTLY what temp your brew is at. This is the end all... for the time being. With all these big companies COMPLETELY missing the tea kettle mark, for brewing at differnet temperatures, which is SO incredibly important for certain types of brews, instead of the plug, boil and over brew problems other brands pose to tea drinkers, Saeco has filled an ENORMOUS gap in the market and are poised to win tea lovers hearts over, 1 at a time. The only suggestion I could make is to make a BPA free plastic (and it might be, I don't know and haven't checked) and market it that way too because many, many tea drinkers refuse to drink out of kettles that contain certain types of platics, and I don't blame them. I would prefer to know it is BPA free but, since this seems to be the only true versatile and large enough kettle for tea brews, I'll take what I can get. One quick note though - for some reason amazon has a page fore the exact same Saeco kettle but one is list at the $70 range while another is approx. $59 (and change)... bothe are listed as new. The rest of the web sites selling this product seem to all come in at the $59 price so I'm not sure what is up with the two very distinct prices for the exact smae, brand new product, on amazon. What's up with that, Amazon?! |
We make a LOT of tea....

We have had electric water kettles for over 15 years. When the top on our latest one got worn, we bought the Saeco 1167. It's the best electric water kettle we've ever had. Most important: it shows the temperature of the water as it heats up so you can choose what degree of heat you want, which is essential if you drink a lot of tea and wonderful when you need warm water for baking. It even holds that temp if you like. It can be set to heat low, med or high; or, it can go straight to boil. The kettle pours well, too, unlike other kettles.
You can actually see the level of water from the outside, which eliminates peering into the kettle. And, although it seems like a fancy extra, the way the kettle's clear area changes color as the water heats is handy. You can tell at a quick glance, from across the room or when you're doing something else, how the water's coming along. This is very handy when you have company, or are busy with other chores.
We like this kettle so much, we have bought this particular unit for gifts. |
Absolutely Fabulous

| I used to have a Bodum electric kettle - lost custody of it in a divorce (Ha!) and the particular model seems to have been discontinued. We absolutely love this one - it's quick, has a large capacity, and being able to hold water at temperature is bonus. LOVE IT. We haven't noticed any taste of plastic at all. We use it for tea and French press coffee - and anytime I need a cup or two of boiling water when cooking. I like the pretty colors as they change, too - I'm easily amused. |
